One small action… less regret later.

Lost and stolen devices are found every day. Sadly many are never returned to their owners. Even when a person wants to help you, there’s often too many barriers to overcome starting with getting past the locked screen. Make it easier so this doesn’t become your story!

A Dtaggy™ on your Apple device can be a lifesaver.

Our tiny tag allows a good-intentioned finder to immediately help you, regardless of whether your device is passcode locked, damaged, or the battery is dead. Now, a passerby, coffee shop barista, or even law enforcement can almost immediately alert you that they’ve found your device.

Simple. Smart. Exclusively for Curt Crowd members.

Smaller than a dime, a Dtaggy is more of an old school social solution that doesn’t rely on battery power, an app, Wi-Fi, GPS, cellular, or data. It’s low-tech, but eye-catching, sort of like when your mom wrote your name on your backpack (extra peace of mind and better odds).

Find My® app won’t always save you.

When a device is lost, there’s a lot to consider:

“Find My” and “Location Services” need to be turned on and configured properly.

The battery needs to have power.

It helps if the device was on a “known” Wi-Fi network when it was lost.

If the screen or device was damaged, that could be a problem.

Who is your finder? Are they tech-savvy? A teen or a senior? Are they an Apple or Android user? And how much time and effort will they have to help you?

Did you know that when you report your device as lost or stolen with your network carrier, Find My app features get disabled?

It’s smart to have extra protection that doesn’t rely on so many variables. That’s what a Dtaggy is for.

How it works!

Stick It!

Choose a visible spot so that a finder can help you the moment they touch your device (even if it’s under a case).

Link It!

Link up to 10 Apple® devices in your account. Each device has its own private Contact Stream that our team or a finder uses to reunite you with your device. You choose what to share and only someone with your serial/IMEI # will be able to view this info.

You also have the ability to offer a reward and remain anonymous!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Dtaggy?

Dtaggy is a simple solution that helps reunite you with your lost or stolen Apple device.

Who can use them?

Dtaggys are exclusively for Curt Crowd members :).

What devices can they be used on?

Dtaggys are exclusively for Apple devices. Good adhesion to different surfaces does vary and there must be an accessible serial number on the device!

I don’t think there is a serial number on my device! Will a Dtaggy still work?

Apple has removed serial numbers from iPhone 13, 14, and a few other models. Finders will still be able to help you but the help is somewhat crippled. We’re working on a solution to get around this so that everyone who has a Dtaggy can be assured they will have equal protection.

How much do they cost?

Dtaggy Apple device protection is a benefit for CurtCrowd.com members. It’s available at no extra cost.

Does Dtaggy track my device?

No. It is not a tracking device.

 How big is a Dtaggy?

A Dtaggy is smaller than a dime.

What are Dtaggys made of?

Dtaggys are made of vinyl with a clear lamination. They are safe, waterproof, and easily removable.

How does a Dtaggy work?

A Dtaggy gives good-intentioned finders (individuals, retailers, and law enforcement to name a few) clear instructions on what to do if they find your device.

How do I use a Dtaggy?

Stick It! somewhere visible so a finder can take immediate action.

Link It! to yourself in your account. Each device has its own details and Contact Stream. Our team and finders use this information to reunite you with your device. Every bit of your information remains anonymous (unless you choose to share). The finder can also choose to remain anonymous by shipping your device to us (for you).

Why can’t I just use the Find My app?

The Find My app is awesome and has helped a lot of people track lost devices, but it doesn’t work in every situation.  For example, if your phone is off or your battery is dead, it doesn’t do any good. The app and location services have to be configured properly as well.

I lost my Apple device, what should I do?

First use Find My app features. Then, log into your Curt Crowd account and verify that your contact stream for your lost device (+ other information) is correct. Click on the “Flag as lost/stolen” feature lets us know so we can be on the lookout. It’s now a waiting game… be on alert for contact from us or a finder and let the contacts you listed know your situation. You can also search our database here.

IMPORTANT:

1) Notifying your carrier that your phone is lost or stolen means they will sever the connection – and Find My features may no longer work.

2) IF you fear for your safety or contact information, you can change who the finder works with when they enter your serial/IMEI into our Dtaggy device search (they’ll see our contact information instead of yours).

3) The finder who is trying to reunite you with your device is not necessarily the first person to touch it. Thieves often ditch them when they realize they’re passcode-locked (aka “bricked”), meaning that a good-intentioned person might find it and try to help you! Be kind! Put your assumptions aside so you can focus on getting your device back.

I found an Apple device, what should I do?

Start by locating the serial/IMEI number on the device and then searching it on our Found page. You’ll be able to choose from multiple options: pinning a location, connecting with the owner, or shipping the device to us. (Apple doesn’t really have a solution other than informing you to turn it into law enforcement.)

Dtaggy has a proprietary process that consists of more than a dozen different tools to reunite a lost Apple device with its owner. Unlike law enforcement (who liquidate all property turned into them twice annually), we currently store devices indefinitely — and don’t give up easily on trying to reunite them! We like to think of ourselves as a much better option – an alternative to what’s available to finders right now.
